Finnaly The Actual Day Wedding

In Singapore, a whole year long celebration for tying the knot for a loving couple is something un-common. But for Indonesian , it's nothing unusual. The Indonesian takes wedding as serius matter.

Last year I did the makeup for Sylvie for her Solemnization at Ocean Dome -RSW Sentosa. It didn't end there , because she also booked me for 2 days Prewedding Photoshoots the next following 2 days. 

This year 2016, she requested me to be her makeup artist for her Actual Day in Singapore after sumptuous celebration in her home town Surabaya. 

To most Indonesian the celebration in Singapore far less simple, nonetheless, it is a part of the journey for this couple to make her matrimony at official status. So the focus of the wedding in Singapore is : 1.Paying Respect to the groom side deceased ancestors 

2. To bring together close relative from both side familes into groom side home city which is Singapore.

I still remember, last year Sylvie's eye makeup was smokey eyes as she requested.  And as she has monolid, I had to create double eyelid , respectively followed by eyes enhancement using eye lashes application technic, and off course  the smokey eye makeup play apart too. 

Unlike last year, intentionally I wanted her to look as natural as possible on her big day, but with the exception that she has to look amazingly beautiful & perfect. So No smokey eyes. And .., olalaaas.,,, who said no smokey eyes - no eyes enhancement?

Actual Wedding Day for Rachel

Rachel is a doctor as well as her fiancé who serve at the SAF. 

As usual, the typical doctor doesn't really bother with her look, nevertheless Rachel is blessed with her facial feature. 

The most important point for Rachel is to give her the best makeup for her matured skin complexion. Without forgetting the eyes enhancement though she has natural double eyelid but they aren't balance. So I make balancing as a point too. Using double eyelid tape, cut & paste according to her eye shape and technic of eyelash application will enhance her eyes into perfection. 

Perfect shading & correct highlighting also a key role to achieve balance feature, because her jaw is a little too outstanding. Wrong contouring will make that part even more dominant.

When a time a bride enter the world of commitment as partner in love, never the less she wants to look awesome, at the same time she wants to show the world who is. Solemnization or ROM in Singapore is crucial because at the day a man is willing to tie a not with her.
Unlike the Actual day wedding, the makeup usually pretty much more simple, but still need to showcase the beauty of the most beautiful lady that a gentleman choose to commit for better of worse for his entire life.

When Sylvie approach me to be her makeup artist for her Solemnization day, I know that she take the ceremony seriously. The couple choose the SEA Ocean Dome as the venue. Understanding clearly that the location is dark, I have to prepare that her makeup shall be intense to be able to bring up her look feature in that certain condition.

The make over - in the morning. She has single eyelid which she had mention to me  beforehand , she need the eyelid to be corrected.

After  a little adjustment, her single eyelid eyes now has double line. This way of proper placement of tape correction will also giving a power to  lift up and open her eyes up, both side, at the inner part & at the outer part.

Now, the drawing & painting part.

Drawing :
Make sure the tape is invisible, cutting the tape exactly to the size that is required, it definitely needs skills.
Drawing the eye makeup , applying enough depth to disguise the tape.
Drawing the eyeliner to seal and at the same time giving a definition to the eyes.

Painting:
Contouring skills is crucial, very few of us born with the perfect shape & feature of face, that's the reason why painting of the base to create flawless complexion is the key part of overall makeup.

Technic to place the Eyelashes.

Many clients are asking what is the different between, bridal eyelashes and normal dinner eyelashes. They are not only different in terms of "comfort", but also different in "shape" and "application". Unlike dinner eyelashes which can be pretty dramatic & fashion in style, bridal eyelashes has to carry a power to pop the eyes up, to make the bride look subtle but radiant. That means, proper placement is key point.

Back again to our topic, Considering the venue has minimal lighting,  the only light that will be used later for her photography is the flash which is extremely powerful to wash her makeup away, that  is the reason the makeup has to be intense enough,  but adequate to make her feature look naturaly beautiful.

Aha!!! Seeing two different person? They are the same person, just the makeup that do "Magic" without going under the knife. It withstand for at least 8 hours perfectly and can go up to 12 hours to 16 hours without touch up depending on the skin condition.

When it's time to do hair styling, I always check with the bride what kind of hairstyle she wants. Hair styling is like a package cover, it will complete to overlook and giving the overall image of the person's personality.
She wants simple sweet looking hairstyle that will portray her as young energetic sweet woman, intelligent, full of idea & caring person,  just like her real personality. Her natural hair is extremely straight, with strong persistent to heat & chemical process, considering this as a reason, the curl has to be smaller & more intense.

Bellow is photo shoot right after the ceremony at Siloso Beach. Look at closer on the hair, from intense at the beginning to this loose after more than 6 hours. However, the makeup still remain perfect.

Makeup Fixing Drooping Eyes or Lifting-up An Aging Eyelid

She requested natural makeup for her son graduation, and at the same time also for her family photo shoot. Despite the normal intense type of traditional Javanese makeup, on that day I have to make the makeup as minimal as possible without killing the image of the traditional costume.

Another crucial problem of aging is sagging eye, bulging eye bag, dark circle etc. Once the age is going up the more problem of beauty appears, that need to be fixed by a makeup specialist.

Bellow is sample without photography editing/ photoshop touch up.

Applying proper natural makeup, eye lashes and eyeliner is enough to fix a droopy eyes as a result of aging.

Irene has very short hair, that's way making her hair smooth and  neatly combed with perfect installation of hair bun extension is important. For this case traditional "sanggul" which fixed as a bun to incorporate her total Javanese Traditional Look.

Bridal Makeup Fixing Single Eyelid Bride on Actual Wedding Day

It's always an issue for Asian single eyelid to get it fixed properly and look awesomely lovable on important occasion especially wedding day. For a makeup artist, mastering how to create double eye lid without doing surgery is necessary especially if we are expose to an Asian Oriental eyes.

In this particular case, her problem isn't only her eyes but is also hair, as she has quite thin & soft hair texture.

Before Makeup 

 The steps:

1. Applying Scott tape. For her case I need to get it layered 2 plies to lift her eye up.
2. Applying Motives eye Primer, to the entire eyelid especially on the surface of  the tape. I found this primer quite useful to apply on basis of silicon/plastic surface, making sure that the colors of the eye shadow kept stays stable and wont be patchy or crease after hours.
3. Starting to draw the eye shadow.

Clarissa & Shawn Actual Day Wedding Makeup 010815

As I had mention in previous page, that this section is to record pictures that I managed to accumulate during my client Clarissa on her special Wedding : Church  & Peranakan Dinner.

Using special signature foundation for better coverage but guarantee non-cakey, lasting for up to 24 hours, and perfect blending to the bride's skin & the rest of the makeup application.

Before Makeup early in the morning, She told me that she has lots of break-out due to stress & lack of sleep. (Ahhhhh..... normal story of bride to be...). Apologize for the half teasing hair. During this photo taking, I had done with shaping & drawing her eyebrow

In the church

This is the Wedding Dinner. Clarissa wearing Peranakan Kebaya. I have to make the makeup slightly intense as Peranakan style usually using vibrant color.

Clarissa choose to use fresh flower as her hair accessories, for her dinner I arrange yellow orchid to incorporate with her Red Kebaya.

Bridal Trial Makeup For Her Church & Peranakan Wedding Dinner

Spoken with her through the phone, I knew from the beginnings, Clarissa wanted her makeup & hairstyle to be very simple. That's what I have the impression during her trial day. Kate Middleton bridal day style is her inspiration, which is quite simple makeup with simple half bun hairstyle, not too much & never be over do.

Clarissa has short hair and quite blunt cutting. In order to create the style that she wanted, I used   www.glamtimehair.com extension to create a proper length.
